Our Engineered Solutions (ES) team, located in our modern, spacious premises in Kingston, Ontario, designs and manufactures Live Fire Training Systems and Mining Refuge and Rescue Solutions for customers across Canada and the US. Our Live Fire Training Systems use either wood or propane fueled fires to allow trainees the best possible preparation for real firefighting scenarios. Mine Refuge chambers provide shelter during an emergency in hazardous environments during underground mining operations.

The Senior Manager is responsible for all aspects of the business, from strategy and business planning to team development, communication and financial results. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Developing and executing long-term business strategies, setting goals, and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Financial Management: Overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, cost analysis, and profitability.
  • Operations Management: Managing day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, and optimizing processes across different departments.
  • Team Leadership: Leading and motivating teams, assigning tasks, providing performance feedback, and fostering collaboration.
  • Performance Monitoring: Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), analyzing data, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Marketing and Sales Oversight: Collaborating with marketing teams to develop and execute marketing strategies, driving sales growth.
  • Human Resource Management: Hiring, training, and developing employees, managing employee relations, and ensuring compliance with labor laws.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks, implementing mitigation strategies, and ensuring business continuity.

Your Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field

 

Related Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a management role within a relevant industry

 

Special Competencies or Certifications:

  • Leadership Skills: Ability to inspire and motivate teams, delegate tasks effectively, and make sound decisions.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis capabilities to interpret financial reports, market trends, and performance metrics.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication to convey complex information to various stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues, think critically, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Business Acumen: Comprehensive understanding of business principles, including finance, marketing, operations, and human resources.
  • Good understanding of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and Quality principles.
  • Strong computer skills in general with required Microsoft applications
  • Must have valid international travel documents.

 

Working Conditions:

  • This is deemed to be a Safety Sensitive position, where performance limitations (due to substance use, for example) could result in an incident or situation with the potential for high consequences. Therefore, you may be subject to post-employment drug or alcohol screenings, for example, prior to performing work at customer sites
  • Time is spent in meetings and sitting for long periods in front of a computer terminal in a smoke-free environment
  • Travel to customers sites or for training may be required
