The Technical Training Instructor creates and provides technical training on the operation, repair and maintenance of Draeger Safety Canada’s products. Training content is developed from technical documentation and consulting with technical experts. Training is delivered to Draeger employees, Channel Partners, and end-user companies.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Researches and develops seminar content from technical documentation, information provided from company directives and through consultation with R & D and product experts. 
  • Reviews service documentation releases from Global Key Application Fields/Segments and incorporates information and the practical application into the seminar content as deemed necessary.
  • With a professional attitude and appearance, and a high level of motivation and initiative, the instructor delivers technical training and transfers knowledge to the seminar participants. 
  • Facilitates the development of technical expertise with other personnel including Field & Repair Center Service personnel, Technical Support, Customer Service and any other functional areas as needed.
  • Conducts needs analysis for training, develops learning outcomes, course content outlines, presentations, and testing mechanisms and reviews seminar feedback; makes applicable revisions as necessary to ensure content contains appropriate information to enable the student to fulfill their responsibilities for providing service on the equipment.   
  • Assists with the planning and development of Seminar schedules, workloads, registration and administrative documentation. 
  • Serves as a resource for technical information and an expert communicator for delivery of information related to the technical applications of the products.
  • Works on special projects that require high level technical expertise and knowledge as required.

Your Qualifications

Education:

  • Diploma in Electronics Engineering, Information Technologies (a related discipline) or equivalent combination of education & experience

 

Related Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical or field support roles and/or of product implementation
  • Necessary/Must Haves
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience teaching technical concepts in an adult setting
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience developing and managing curriculum in an adult learning environment
    • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
    • Valid international Travel documents
  • Nice to Haves:
    • Background in servicing Fire Fighting (SCBA) and Mining (CCBA) apparatuses, and electronic devices
    • Experience with course accreditation processes and procedures
    • Experience with administrating an online Learning Management System
    • Experience with E-Learning development and content management

 

Special Competencies or Certifications:

  • Demonstrates Technical hands on skills for particular Product Portfolios
  • Demonstrates aptitude for learning new technologies and/or instructing others with professional communication skills
  • High level of computer proficiency with desktop applications (example: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Is motivated and a self-starter that takes initiative and needs minimal supervision
  • Results oriented with quality focus
  • Possesses a high degree of originality and problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions and answer questions decisively and completely
  • Team Player with effective interpersonal skills who is able to work effectively with personnel in various departments, at various levels and in various locations to achieve the objectives of the organization
  • Consistently demonstrates professionalism
  • Demonstrates commitment to Customer Satisfaction
  • Demonstrates proficiency servicing Draeger products (company specific), IT certifications & training may be required for certain products
  • Bilingual (English and French) would be an asset

 

Working Environment/Conditions:

  • This is deemed to be a Safety Sensitive position, where performance limitations (due to substance use, for example) could result in an incident or situation with the potential for high consequences. Therefore, you may be subject to post-employment drug or alcohol screenings, for example, prior to performing work at customer sites.
  • Courses are predominantly conducted in indoor classrooms and/or office environments
  • Travel is required to conduct offsite training courses at customer locations: Approximately 50% - 70% travel
  • Out of province travel might be required, as well as international travel for training purposes
  • Job may require lifting and/or handling objects of up to 50lb, as well as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
