The Job Responsibilities

Draeger's Engineered Solutions team designs and manufactures Live Fire Training Systems and Mining Refuge and Rescue Solutions. Live Fire Training Systems use propane fueled fires to allow trainees to prepare for real firefighting scenarios.  Some of the realistic scenarios can include kitchens, couches, beds, cars, aircraft etc. Mine Refuge chambers provide shelter during an emergency in hazardous environments during underground mining operations.

This position is responsible to build and install electrical control systems. Manufacturing and installation work can be required at Draeger’s facility in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, fabrication shops, or at customer sites, primarily in North America.

Main Accountabilities: 

1) Build and install electrical control systems on projects in accordance with relevant codes and standards, as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team

2) Perform testing, commissioning and quality assurance by inspecting systems according to Draeger's internal Acceptance Test Protocol (ATP).

3) Provide customer service, including remote and on-site troubleshooting.

4) Work with 3rd party authorities on field inspections and approvals.

5) Assist engineering and technologists on optimizing projects including; planning, design, production and installation processes.

Your Qualifications

Education and Related Experience:

  • Certified electrician for work in Ontario with 5 or more years of experience in electrical technology, manufacturing and installation, preferably involving applications in industrial environment.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of running wire, making connections and labelling
  • Knowledge of conduit construction and installation
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and other design documentation.
  • Knowledge of CSA 22.1 and other applicable laws and regulations
  • Skills in organizing workload and time to work on simultaneous projects in a fast paced environment
  • Valid driver's license and international travel documents

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Skills in troubleshooting to resolve field issues
  • Knowledge of variable frequency drives

  • Strong attention to detail is required on a daily basis
  • Must possess exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications capabilities required. 
  • Ability to deal professionally and courteously with internal and external contacts. 
  • Proven experience working with confidential and sensitive information
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

 

Work Environment / Conditions:

  • Must have ability to perform physical work and lift up to 50 pounds as part of day-to-day work.
  • The position is based in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and will involve national and international travel (can be up to 40%) primarily within North America.
