About the role

  • Provision of timely, practical and professional occupational H&S advice
  • Develop and further promote a positive H&S culture.
  • Assist in promotion, development and review of accredited safety management system (ISO 45001). Including generation of H&S policies, procedures etc.
  • Facilitate the generation and review of risk assessments.
  • Delivery internal H&S training courses.
  • Undertake H&S inspections independantly and in conjunction with line management.
  • Assist with the incident investigation process i.e. Receive and investigate reports of adverse events and work with managment to determine their causes and make recommendations for to prevent            reoccurence
  • Maintain the tracking system for recording, reporting, investigating and actioning; adverse events, risk assessments; inspections and tours. 
  • Maintain H&S Intranet site and generate periodic reports and presentations on performance.
  • Deputise for the Head of H&S as necessary.

Size of team/environment - Close team of 3 people, based within Blyth facility large team   

Your Qualifications

 Role Requirements

Education/Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent (essential)
  • NEBOSH Diploma (desirable)
  • IT literate and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of Power BI (desirable)

Related Experience 

  • Ideally Industrial background in an H&S advisory role
  • Experience in the major H&S topics:
  • Risk assessment e.g. task, machine and hazardous substances
  • Inspection e.g. workplace, fire
  • Audit e.g. systems, process, legislation, compliance
  • Systems management e.g. policy development, implementation and review.

Skills, Special Competencies

  • Good written skills for example drafting reports and safety procedures
  • Generate presentations and training materials using Microsoft Powerpoint
  • Use Microsoft Excel to interpret, interrogate data
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to persuade and influence others at all levels within the company
  • Capacity for analytical thought
  • Project Management skills
