We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer based in our Telford PA office. 

The Senior System Engineer is responsible for leading multidiscipline technical teams to develop optimal technical solutions in the interests of the customer and the company and ensuring a good interaction of the technical disciplines to achieve the desired design outcomes for complex stand-alone products and systems of products.  Leads team members in the development of the system architecture, creates and manages technical requirements and system interface specifications and assesses integration systems on product/system level in order to reduce conceptual and technical risks.

  • Manage technical activities across functions, disciplines and sites to achieve desired product design and performance results with a view toward the entire product lifecycle.
  • Create technical system concepts and architectures and evaluate technical feasibility by identifying and mitigating technical risks for complex stand-alone products and systems of products.
  • Overall responsibility for the creation, management and implementation of technical requirements for new or existing products.
  • Ensure the effective use of platform modules and reuse of existing parts, components and assemblies to reduce technical risk and development time. Identify and specify future platform elements where appropriate.
  • Create and manage plans to verify integration of system features, functions and requirements.
  • Research and evaluate opportunities for new invention claims and ensure Freedom to Operate with regard to existing patents and claims.
  • Coordinate and manage collaboration on technical matters with development partners including other Draeger sites and external partners with respect to technical requirements, technical solutions, verification and other relevant activities.

SPP Engineering specific

  • Lead cross functional project teams in support of work packages for DCR’s. Create and manage project schedules to meet target completion dates.
  • Provide technical support to Suppliers, Purchasing, Product Management and Production in order to resolve issues and prevent disruptions of shipments to customers.
  • Support Product Qualification/Verification team with assessment of proposed changes to the product and identification of the requirements. Review/approve test related documentation including test protocols, specifications and final reports.
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned

 

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in System Engineering (preferred) or other relevant engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years experience in development of electromechanical medical systems or other complex, multi-discipline product development environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Team oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Broad engineering/technical knowledge or experience.
  • Experience with applying systems engineering methodologies to complex    systems.
  • Fundamental Project Management knowledge.
  • Knowledge of medical device standards.
  • Experience in rigorous product development processes.
  • Analytical thinking and solution-focused problem solving.
  • Intercultural cooperation.

Work Environment / Conditions:

  • Extended computer & keyboard operation
  • Occasional air travel including international travel
  • Occasional lifting and manipulating parts less than 20 lbs
  • Deadline & multitasking focused

The Dräger Workplace

Our US headquarters located north of Philadelphia in Telford, Pennsylvania is our US manufacturing site for our Neonatal product line supplying many global customers as well as production support for Draeger’s Safety products. This location also serves as the key site for essential US functions which includes Medical Sales and Service Management, Medical Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, Quality and Finance.
