The Director of Operations is an on-site position based in our Telford PA office.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manages all Operations functions for the Telford Medical including Production, Logistics, and Production Support Engineering including Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering and Production Quality Engineering. Ensures Operations function is in compliance with regulatory requirements and company goals & objectives for cost, quality and delivery.
- Working closely with R&D, oversees and supports New Product Introduction ensuring Design for Manufacturability and Testability and the installation of verified and validated production processes & equipment in compliance with legal and internal requirements within manufacturing functions.
- For all of the above functions, develops strategies and technologies, drives Continuous Improvement and Operations Excellence initiatives and manages related projects.
- Responsible for development, introduction and continuous improvement of the Operations strategy including Production, Production Engineering, Logistics, and outbound order management. Drives lean and continuous improvement through the successful implementation of lean programs and initiatives including TPS, value stream mapping, single piece flow, 5S, SPC, Kanban, Kaizen and visual management among others.
- Accountable for Operations performance with regards to product quality, productivity improvements, delivery capability and operation efficiency. Ensure competitive Operations to support profitable business growth for the assigned line of business. Implement a robust business continuity plan to mitigate potential operation risks.
- Oversee the management of direct and indirect labor resources in the production in support of the established marketing and production plans. Also responsible for the capacity planning, production planning and scheduling functions to support production process.
- Responsible for all production engineering functions and activities at the Production site, including Industrial, Manufacturing, Test and Production Quality Engineering. Ensures all production processes, tools and test systems are verified and validated to legal and internal requirements and operating at the highest possible efficiency. Manages all technical aspects of new product introduction and product lifecycle management in Production. Provides design for manufacturability and testability requirements to R&D and ensures that these requirements are met before products are released for manufacturing. Responsible for the development and implementation of new and improved state of the art manufacturing technologies, test systems, tools & equipment, IT-tools in compliance with all legal and internal regulations into the manufacturing environment.
- As one of the US “Make” process owners, leads or coordinates the Draeger Process Landscape implementation (Process Landscape Make) via the roll-out, support and harmonization of global processes and tools, measurement systems and metrics.
- Oversee the management of all processes related to inventory control & warehouse operations, including: in-bound transportation, receiving, storage, material transactions, supplier Kanban replenishment, packaging, shipping and out-bound transportation of products. Responsible for Inventory Control, cycle counting and inventory accuracy for Telford Medical Operations Monitors & reports associated inventory Key Performance Indicators.
- Fully responsible for all talent-related processes from daily workforce planning, role accountabilities, talent acquisition, performance assessment / management to strategic planning incorporating change management and succession planning that contributes to increased motivation, trust and collaboration and the successful attainment of established annual goals and long term sustainability. Develop function/area budget ensuring consistency with policies and controls. Oversee all financial aspects for the function/area and anticipate and implement measures as needed to ensure budget goals are met and return on expenses is maximized. Participate in long range financial planning for function.
- Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, or related field; Master’s or MBA degree strongly preferred
- 10+ years of operations experience in Lean continuous improvement manufacturing operations environments, including 8+ years in a management/leadership role required
- 5+ years in the Medical Device or other regulated industry required, including strong knowledge of FDA GMP/QSR regulations, and ISO standards
- Strong knowledge of Lean, Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence methodologies required; multi-plant, multi-site experience involving regional & global partnerships strongly preferred
- Strong technical skills and commensurate leadership experience in production / operations engineering disciplines desired; familiarity with related concepts, good practices, and procedures relating to production and supply chain processes
- Prior track record of managing multi-site projects around continuous improvement, organizational development and change management preferred
- Lean Certification (Green, Black Belt) strongly preferred
- Proven track record of managing cross-functional projects and initiatives
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information to executive management
- Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and administrative skills
