The Buyer/Planner is responsible for establishing schedule, planning, execution, and prioritization of production orders in support of customer requirements across multiple products. Responsible for the planning, purchasing, and forecasting of assigned products.  Monitor supplier delivery performance and implement corrective action as required. Through the use of SAP, analyze, plan and execute procurement of materials with assigned suppliers to ensure proper balance between supply and demand while providing an uninterrupted flow of materials, and supporting inventory targets and purchasing initiatives.  Manage the purchasing cycle, from executing requisitions, purchase order creation and follow up, and resolving invoice discrepancies. 

Principal Accountabilities:   

  • Create and maintain work orders after each MRP regeneration to satisfy the demand schedule and customer requirements. Apply knowledge of product and process to schedule each work center while optimizing inventory, resources and costs to achieve production schedule requirements.
  • Create and maintain SAP planning and purchasing parameters, and material master data for designated products/portfolio. Lead and participate in projects for supply chain activities.  Serve as main point of contact in day-to-day operations and provide guidance to resolve supply chain issues as needed.  Supports activities utilizing concepts and involving the evaluation and analysis of data, processes and systems.
  • Determine, communicate, and maintain promised delivery dates to respective ordering parties by utilizing product knowledge, established processes and SAP to meet delivery commitments and satisfy customers. Maintain strong working relationships and communications with operations/manufacturing and suppliers and act as the first line of escalation to achieve established delivery performance goals, successful execution of inventory strategy, and achievement of established KPI’s. 
  • Implement and coordinate price changes on all relevant purchase orders and monitor Purchase Price Variance to achieve optimal pricing goals.  Communicates all changes in regards to drawings, specification and or project plan from change board to supplier.  Ensures that commercial aspects will be considered during the change process, negotiates changes with supplier. Responsible for maintaining master purchasing data in SAP.
  • Execute all production order related transactions in a timely and accurate manner to control inventory. Review production order variances and take required corrective action to minimize variances. Monitor and coordinate disposition of discrepant material from work cells via block tags and SAP, for prompt processing through the Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Responsible for the development and implementation/execution of inventory strategy for designated products/portfolio assuring right inventory is available as per the demand, while achieving or exceeding established Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and take corrective action to ensure delivery goals are achieved.  Maintain delivery dates within the purchase order based upon the most up-to-date delivery information provided by the supplier/vendor.  Determine root causes for part shortages and implement corrective action to ensure optimal inventory and future customer demands. 
  • Negotiate and implement logistics models with suppliers in collaboration with Strategic Purchasing for the purpose of achieving optimal inventory turns and dollars.  Create, implement, and maintain quantity contracts while providing forecasts to vendors in an effort to achieve inventory flexibility. 
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

Your Qualifications

Education:

BS in a related discipline preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Related Experience:

  • 2-5 years material planning & purchasing/buying experience required
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite; SAP experience preferred

Draeger has several sites located across North America as well as field-based sales and service positions. Our North America headquarters is located in Telford, PA just north of Philadelphia. We also have US sites in Andover, MA, and Houston, TX. Our Canada site is located in Mississauga, Ontario.

Our US headquarters located north of Philadelphia in Telford, Pennsylvania is our US manufacturing site for our Neonatal product line supplying many global customers as well as production support for Draeger’s Safety products. This location also serves as the key site for essential US functions which includes Medical Sales and Service Management, Medical Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, Quality and Finance.
