The Job Responsibilities

This position is responsible for managing sustaining engineering projects of various sizes within the Life Cycle Engineering group of Draeger Medical Systems, Inc.

  • Manages complex and/or business critical projects.  Responsible for overall project planning, execution and closure to achieve the program/project objectives (scope, schedule, cost, quality) with adherence to Draeger SOPs.  Accountable to self, team, and organization to deliver results
  • Leads the cross functional team (CFT) throughout the sustaining lifecycle, directing the necessary activities to prioritize, generate, organize and track the required documentation to process design change requests (DCRs).
  • “Face of the project”; Responsible for communication of key project/program performance metrics, status, key decisions, risk identification, and mitigation strategies to CFT and management at all levels
  • Responsible for the project DHF and other required documentation in compliance with internal QMS and FDA and other industry regulations.
  • Provide updates on the project tracking tool to ensure project status is current and team is aligned on current timetable/deliverable schedules.
  • Represents the company factually and professionally in audits.
  • Demonstrate understanding of, and maintain compliance to Draeger Medical SOP’s
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

Your Qualifications

Education:

  • BS in technical discipline (ME/EE/SW/Biomedical/Systems); MS a plus
  • Medical devices background / education preferred

Related Experience:

  • Five+ years in the development of complex embedded systems and/or PC-based products and or electro-mechanical systems or devices.
  • At least five years in project management of cross-functional teams and development projects. 
  • Experience in medical devices (preferred).
  • Business experience gained working across multiple departments for more than 6 years, preferably in other stations than program/project management, preferably with one experience of manufacturing, engineering, quality and portfolio/product management as they apply to projects. 
  • Operating level experience including leading complex multi-disciplinary, multi-site teams.
  • Contractor and supplier management
  • Comfortable interacting day-to-day with functional leads

Special Competencies or Certifications:

  • PMP Certification (preferred)
  • Proficiency with project management tools, including MS Project, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint
  • Thorough understanding of developing products using a structured product development process
  • Demonstrated teambuilding, communications, and problem-solving skills
  • Skilled in leading multi-disciplinary teams including Engineering, Regulatory, Quality, Purchasing, Service, Production, in an FDA regulated environment
  • Highly organized and metric driven individual

Work Environment / Conditions:

  • Ability to work together with others and in a team atmosphere; while displaying civility, cordiality, friendliness, empathy, etc.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying amounts of individual responsibilities, conflict resolution, redirected priorities, etc.
  • Ability to lead teams on premises at least 80% of the time and work effectively in a self-directed manner when off-premises

The Dräger Workplace

Draeger has several sites located across North America as well as field-based sales and service positions. Our North America headquarters is located in Telford, PA just north of Philadelphia. We also have US sites in Andover, MA, and Houston, TX. Our Canada site is located in Mississauga, Ontario.

The design, development and manufacturing of Draeger’s Patient Monitoring product line takes place in our Andover, Massachusetts location.
