The Job Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to each functional area of the Compute and Connect teams while also being responsible for the overall management for all activities within team to include work assignments / role accountabilities, talent acquisition (recruitment), performance assessment / management, budget, ensure effective workforce planning and talent development processes are undertaken to successfully contribute to the motivation, trust and collaboration needed to achieve annual goals and prepare for future needs.
  • Be the point person on any IT – R&D project. Collaborate with R&D team to articulate requirements and deliver them to IT; project manage the cross-team deliverables that fulfill the requirements.
  • Serve on IT project board to represent the project(s) and must be able to negotiate dates and priorities.
  • Serve as cloud leader to redesign and reallocate infrastructure resources into a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Work collaboratively with global peers to assess and address technology challenges.
  • Maintain and ensure stability of current and legacy systems, including patching and security updates to provide streamlined and timely support the work of individual contributors in R&D.  Accountable for the management for all areas of the infrastructure including network services, service subscriptions, server and network hardware.  Ensure all infrastructure projects, initiatives and processes are in conformance with organizations established policies and objectives.
  • Provide support for R&D in the areas of architectural change/need (leveraging shared services). Based upon agreed priorities, drive delivery of new technologies, projects or other implementations as a key liaison for R&D and IT.  
  • Escalation point for local and regional infrastructure operations activities, technologies, services and people which include communications and direct contact with the IT staff as well as key stakeholders within the business as needed.  Seek innovative ways to improve productivity through the introduction of new methods and controls.  Monitor technology trends and looks for new opportunities.  Support of urgent requests, escalations (resource requests, network, data security, etc.) with the expected outcome that any impediments will be removed and/or mitigated promptly.
  • Active member of the regional IT management team and global Infrastructure teams.   May be required to interact with management and senior-level decision makers regarding operational issues, scheduling requirements, and contractual matters.  Responsible for hosting and operations of infrastructure for all regional and local applications, and in some cases global; including service and vendor management.
  • Collaborate with the North America Region Workplace Team to ensure timely delivery of local field service support as well as coordinating with global service delivery for 1st level help desk support and 2nd and 3rd level support for infrastructure technologies.
  • Drive global infrastructure projects for the region as well as communicate, collaborate and participate with the appropriate competence centers to ensure project, technology and standards alignment for all services.
  • Oversee the upgrades to system and servers including R&D build nodes to ensure stability and reliability.  Serve as technical backup to existing IT resources and have all the credentials and permissions necessary to act as a fully functional backup in all areas of the North American IT Infrastructure.
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

 

Your Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in a technology related field or equivalent work experience.

Related Experience:

  • Ten+ years in the field of IT infrastructure, including responsibility in all aspects, including server and network operations; desktop support; telecommunications; five years in a management/leadership role.
  • Experience with product development either in a support, operations, QA or development role.
  • Strong focus in leadership skills to bring diverse and disparate teams together into one; ability to manage and oversee multiple complex projects and tasks. 
  • High level of competence in communication skills including verbal and written to ensure understanding in all areas of the organization, in and outside of IT. 
  • Ability to influence thinking and gain acceptance from others as new solutions are determined in IT. 
  • Demonstrates strong business acumen in conducting technical briefings for senior management on significant IT matters.
  • Presentation skills

Special Competencies or Certifications:

  • Experience working in a global organization a plus
  • Experience supporting DevOps teams a plus
  • Network experience and troubleshooting a plus

The design, development and manufacturing of Draeger’s Patient Monitoring product line takes place in our Andover, Massachusetts location.
