Sr Technical Writer

This role is based out of our beautiful Andover, MA facility which offers many benefits including an onsite fitness center with yoga and fitness training classes, onsite game rooms, full-service café, free parking and more.  Andover supports the design and assembly of our patient monitoring products.

This position writes or maintains user manuals for Clinical Information Systems, software products, electro-medical devices and related products. 

• Create, write, edit and maintain user manuals and related technical documentation including technical bulletins, instruction sheets, release notes, etc.
• Interview subject matter experts (SME) and research information. Assimilate the collected data and write or edit text for inclusion in the target documentation. Interface with R&D, product management, clinical engineering, quality and regulatory affairs directly and through weekly cross-functional team (CFT) meetings.
• Coordinate and conduct technical review sessions with SMEs and CFT members. Collect the resulting feedback and incorporate it into the target documentation.
• Determine illustration requirements for manuals and use company-wide resources to obtain appropriate graphics support. Generate screen captures and coordinate graphics manipulation and edits.
• Prepare target documentation for print and online delivery. Deliver source files for archiving in the document control system.
• Execute writing duties within the scope of project plans and negotiate changes to deliverables based on any scope changes.
• Participate in ongoing improvement initiatives developed by the documentation group and adhere to standards.

Education:

• BA in English, Technical Writing, Journalism, or related field, or BS with a technical writing certificate or technical background.

Related Experience:       

• 3-5 years of professional experience in the field of technical writing including Software Product Documentation experience.

Special Competencies or Certifications: 

• Microsoft Office
• FrameMaker
• CMS tools
• Adobe Acrobat Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Draeger has several sites located across North America as well as field-based sales and service positions. Our North America headquarters is located in Telford, PA just north of Philadelphia. We also have US sites in Andover, MA, and Houston, TX. Our Canada site is located in Mississauga, Ontario.

The design, development and manufacturing of Draeger’s Patient Monitoring product line takes place in our Andover, Massachusetts location.
