About the role

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive maintenance on all building services plant, equipment, and systems, to include fault finding, problem solving and minor repairs to minimise down time.
  •  Full, accurate and timely completion of all maintenance records.
  • Ensure adequate availability /stockholding of commonly used or long lead time spare parts.
  • Requisition and collection stores materials as required.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with prescribed processes, e.g., Safe systems of work, and in such a way to minimise risk to self and others.
  • Review processes, procedures, systems, paperwork, etc. in own area and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Ensure full and timely reporting of all major breakdowns, significant problems, repair requirements, delays, or system/equipment down time to relevant personnel.
  • Ensure Health and Safety policies are always adhered to.
  • Any other reasonable duties or project work which may be required by management from time to time.
  •  The tasks and responsibilities above are typical of the duties the postholder will be expected to perform. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar nature and level may be required from time to time.
  • On call (by rota) 365 days of the year as part of a 4–5 person team.

Size of team/environment

  • Working within a team of 6 staff based at the Blyth site.

 

Your Qualifications

Role Requirements

Education/Qualifications

  • Level 3 NVQ diploma in installing Electrotechnical Systems & Equipment (Buildings, Structure and the Environment), or;
  • Completion of a Level 3 electrotechnical apprenticeship in Electrical Installation.

Related Experience 

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of carrying out electrical installation and maintenance in a facilities/building service environment.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines
  • Skills, Special Competencies
  • IEE 18th edition required.
  • City and Guilds 2377 (Portable Appliance Testing) required.
  • City and Guilds 2330-07 Certificate in Electro-technical Technology - Installation (Buildings and Structures) or City and Guilds 2330-08 Certificate in Electro-technical Technology - Electrical Maintenance are desirable.
  • Knowledge of current regulations and standards relevant to electrical / electronic building services and systems.
