The Job Responsibilities

To lead the design of complex fire & gas detection system projects in the Oil, Gas, Chemical, and Industrial markets within the USA & Canada. The job includes, but is not limited to, bidding, designing, executing and closing the projects within the cost, time and quality constrains and in compliance with local codes and standards.

  • Provide technical support and continuity with Dräger’s manufacturing reps, regional sales teams, business development team, and end users in regards to fire and gas detection systems.
  • Remain current with applicable industry codes and standards such as NFPA 70, NFPA 72, FM 3010, and UL864
  • Responsible for reading and interpreting construction documents/drawings and specifications in order to design and bid fire & gas detection system projects which will utilize various forms of detection (fire/flame, gas, smoke, heat), and integrated controllers.
  • Develop effective bid packages which include detailed technical approach to system design to include system layout drawings, fire & gas mapping layouts, and other technical support materials required in response to customer inquiries and requests for proposal.
  • Present to and advise EPCs, integrators, and end users on fire and gas detection system design considerations and proposed system solution as well as code review, applicability, and compliance.
  • Remain current with related safety regulations and policies with respect to the Dräger products being sold.  Operates in accordance with already established company policies and procedures.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications

Education:

4 year degree in a related discipline from an accredited university in electrical, mechanical, fire protection, or chemical engineering.

Related Experience:

3-5+ years system engineering design, integration, or project management experience within the fire and/or gas detection industry.

Special Competencies or Certifications:

  • Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards such as NFPA 70, NFPA 72, FM 3010, and UL864
  • Working knowledge of Flame and Gas Mapping software a plus.
  • Must be able read and understand customer documents in order to gather information necessary to design Fire & Gas Detection System that meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Must be knowledgeable with AutoCAD and other CAD software to perform the design work.
  • Familiar with sampling/aspiration system, industrial hazardous applications, PLC based control systems, SCADA and communication Network. 
  • Must be thoroughly knowledgeable on the complete Dräger product lines and competitors as they relate to Dräger products.

The Dräger Workplace

Draeger has several sites located across North America as well as field-based sales and service positions. Our North America headquarters is located in Telford, PA just north of Philadelphia. We also have US sites in Andover, MA, and Houston, TX. Our Canada site is located in Mississauga, Ontario.
