The Job Responsibilities

Purpose of Function

Managing the UK & Ireland Trade Compliance team and securing compliance with Customs and Export Control regulations.

Support the company’s Customs and Export Control compliance program and framework.

Tasks and Responsibilities

1.       All employees have a responsibility to comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and minimise any impact on the environment whilst carrying out their duties. (Do not remove)

UK & Ireland Trade Compliance

3.       Providing guidance to responsible personnel in UK and Ireland in operational compliance matters, related to customs and export control (import/export) issues:

o   Review of restricted party screening holds (regional)

o   Contact for goods classification

o   Contact for goods description

o   Execution of tariff classification according global processes

o   Support (release) regarding regional export/import holds

o   Execution of application for export or import license at local (regional) authorities

4.  Bridging global approach/framework and regional execution e.g. (as required)

o   Representation of functional area (customs, export control) to local management

o   Representation of UK and Ireland entities in global functional organisation

5.  Reporting as required to Head of Global Trade Compliance

6.  Regional support for implementation and maintenance of the global harmonised policies, processes, methods and tools and specifically:

o   Local process owner for customs & export control processes

o   Review and adaptation of global standards to local needs

o   Implementation inclusive training of those localised standards

o   Provide support to maintain global tool content with respect to changes in local requirements

7.       Building up and maintaining contacts to local authorities in UK and Ireland

8.       Control of correct export/import handling including

o   Execution of audits

o   Monitoring of related business execution

9.       Support and advise in the administration of the company’s global trade compliance platform

Additional Roles

Representing Draeger UK on Customs and Excise Committees

Your Qualifications

(desirable) Degree or equivalent

Required:

Experience in UK regulations regarding Customs & Export Control

Experience regarding International Import and Export handling

Desirable:

Experience in European (EU/EFTA) regulations regarding Customs & Export Control (specifically Ireland, Czech)

Understanding of Defence & Security industry requirements

Managing personnel

Assertiveness

Strong negotiation skills

Project Management skills

Working in multidisciplinary teams
